Partners: Rebuilding through Ensemble Storytelling
Presently Theatre Amoeba is searching for project
partners for Haiti Theatre Aid. Creative expression though storytelling is an important part of the recovery process
for those who have experienced traumatic events and catastrophic disasters. Our project actively focuses on teaching and mentoring
as well as interactive performances which will uplift audiences with comedy, skill and imagination using physically based
theatrical ensemble storytelling. We will use creation and performance to enable Haitians voice their joys and pains, their
dreams and fears.
While in Haiti, Amoeba aims to transfer the knowledge and experience gained from the past projects
of Amoeba and our partner Clown Me In. Together our experience includes creating with Palestinian marginalized communities living in camps in Lebanon,
teaching and performing for Tsunami survivors in Aceh, Indonesia, as well as creating with economically challenged youth in
Morocco.
Our project will take place over the course of two months and consist of performances, workshops,
mentoring and a storytelling festival. Our project will be meaningful for many reasons. While in
Haiti, Theatre Amoeba will apply theatre-based methods toward post-crisis healing, empowerment and improved life skills, and
as a means to community education and development. Theatre Amoeba's international team of 5 theatre artists/musicians/teachers
